How to fix “failed to authorize” in IPTV Smarters
By the IPTV Fox TV editorial teamLast reviewed 4 min read
Short answer
“Failed to authorize” means IPTV Smarters reached a server but your login was not accepted. In most cases the server URL, username or password was entered slightly wrong. The next most likely causes are an expired or inactive subscription, too many devices streaming at once, or a network that can't reach the provider's server. Work through the checks below in order.

What the error means
IPTV Smarters is a player app: it doesn't include any channels. When you log in with an Xtream Codes login (server URL, username and password), the app asks your provider's server to confirm the account. “Failed to authorize” is the app telling you that confirmation didn't come back successfully. The problem is almost always in the login details, the account status or the connection to the server, rather than in the app itself.
1. Check the server URL and port
The server URL is the field people get wrong most often. Compare it character by character with the details your provider sent you:
- Keep the http:// or https:// at the start exactly as provided. Don't swap one for the other.
- Include the :port number if there is one (for example :8080). Leaving it out is a very common cause.
- Remove any trailing spaces or slashes that were added when you pasted it.
- Don't paste an M3U playlist link into the Xtream Codes URL field. They are different login methods; see M3U playlists explained.
2. Re-enter the username and password
Usernames and passwords are usually case-sensitive. Type them again rather than pasting, which can add an invisible space at the end. On a TV remote it's easy to pick a neighboring key, so check the letters one more time before saving. Our Xtream Codes login guide explains what each field should contain.
3. Confirm your subscription is active
If the plan has expired, hasn't been activated yet, or was suspended, the server will refuse the login and the app shows the same error. If you've just paid or renewed, allow the activation time your provider stated. If the error continues, contact your provider with your order details. Never send your password in that message.
4. Check how many devices are connected
Every plan allows a set number of devices to stream at the same time. If that limit is already reached, some servers reject new logins. Close the player app fully on devices you aren't using and try again. If it keeps happening when nothing else is playing, your login may be in use somewhere else: ask your provider to reset it. See using IPTV on multiple devices.
5. Rule out the network
- Check that other apps on the same device can reach the internet.
- Restart the device and your router.
- If you use a VPN, turn it off and try again.
- Try a different DNS resolver on the device or router. Some home networks fail to look up a server's address correctly. Public resolvers such as Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) and Google Public DNS (8.8.8.8) publish setup instructions.
- If you can, test on another network, such as a phone hotspot. If the login works there, the issue is on your home network or internet provider's side.
6. Reset the app's saved data
If the details are definitely right, old saved data in the app can still get in the way. Remove the saved user or playlist in the app and add it again from scratch. If that doesn't help, clear the app's data and log in again:
| Device | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Android TV / Google TV | Settings → Apps → the player app → Clear data |
| Fire TV | Settings → Applications → Manage installed applications → the player app → Clear data |
| Android phone or tablet | Settings → Apps → the player app → Storage → Clear data |
| iPhone / iPad / Apple TV | Delete the app and reinstall it from the App Store |
Also update the app to its latest version from your device's official app store.
7. Try another player app
If the same login works in a different IPTV player app, or on another device, the issue is specific to that app or device, not your account. If it fails everywhere, the cause is the login details, the account, or the server. Our devices and apps overview explains how player apps work on each platform.
Preventing the error in future
- Save your provider's login details in a password manager so you can paste them accurately on a phone and type them carefully on a TV.
- Install IPTV Smarters Pro only from the official stores listed in our Smarters Pro setup guide.
- Renew before your subscription ends, and keep the confirmation email.
- Close the app on devices you're not watching so you don't hit your connection limit.
Most repeat cases come from one of these, so a minute of prevention saves a lot of troubleshooting later.
Still seeing the error?
Contact your provider with the device and app you use, a photo of the error, and when it started. If you're an IPTV Fox TV customer, contact our team on WhatsApp or Telegram and we'll check your account. For other error messages, see common IPTV errors and how to fix them.
Frequently asked questions
Does “failed to authorize” mean my subscription has ended?
Not necessarily. It's most often a typo in the server URL, username or password. Check those first, then confirm your plan is active.
Can I fix it by reinstalling IPTV Smarters?
Sometimes, if old saved data is the cause. But if the login details are wrong or the account isn't active, reinstalling won't help.
Why does my login work on my phone but not my TV?
Usually a typing difference on the TV or the device limit being reached. Compare the details carefully and close the app on the other device.
